About This Program

Department of Physical Education and Health Education

A natural extension of the Springfield College physical education and sport science undergraduate programs, the advanced-level coaching track has a reputation for producing outstanding coaches at all levels of sports, including elite, professional, intercollegiate, and interscholastic. With the Springfield College teacher-coach model in place, this concentration offers you the opportunity to interact with experienced, highly successful coaches in the classroom and on the playing field.

The curriculum is designed to aid coaches in developing leadership and administrative skills while also improving athletic performance, with courses including motor learning, sport psychology, and strength and conditioning. In addition to the variety of sport and coaching science courses you’ll take, you’ll also enter into a fieldwork coaching experience, often with a college or university athletic team, which will allow you to gain relevant experience for your resume and ready you to begin your coaching career.
