About This Program

The Office of Educator Prep and Licensure can help answer your teaching license questions.

In the Springfield College art therapy teacher of visual arts licensure program, you'll learn how to become an art educator versed in art therapy and art as healing. These skills are important when working with students with special needs.

Through the program, students gain the professional preparation needed to work with people of all ages with varying degrees of functional or organic impairment, as well as with traditional populations in schools. Graduates can work in public or private schools, hospitals and clinics, community mental health centers, geriatric centers, drug and alcohol clinics, nursing homes, halfway houses, prisons, and special needs schools.
