The athletic administration concentration will give you the resources you need to lead a college, university, or high school athletic program, or to work with athletic conferences that support and provide championships for those programs. Courses in budgeting and branding, risk management, supervision, and facilities will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in your athletic leadership role.

Our required field experience will allow you to gain real-life experiences and build a career-enhancing network. Recent fieldwork sites have included UCLA, Harvard, Boston College, Pepperdine, San Diego State, University of Massachusetts, and more than a dozen high schools throughout the Northeast. A final feature of your experience will center on a sequence of research courses that provide critical thinking opportunities around a current topic or issue that has your attention.

As part of our program, we offer the Athletic Administration Leadership Series, a panel event held each semester that is tailored specifically to graduate students in the athletic administration program. The event alternates a focus between high school and intercollegiate athletics and often brings alumni back to campus to talk about their experience out in the field, so you’ll gain an inside look at life after graduation.

Students who wish to attain teacher certification must also satisfy the requirements for the physical education teacher licensure program.
