About This Program

Option to pursue physical education teacher licensure 


The health promotion and disease prevention concentration is created for students who are interested in a career in designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive health promotion and wellness programs for individuals, agencies, and organizations. 

Coursework will help prepare you to pass the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam, while a supervised field experience will immerse you in the industry so you can put your knowledge into practice. You’ll leave this program ready to begin your career promoting community wellness and guiding individuals toward a healthier lifestyle. 

The health promotion and disease prevention graduate program is preparing me for a career in numerous health-related fields. The course load is focused on healthy behavior change and health promotion programming.
