Springfield College has a rich tradition of developing leaders in the study of physical education, sport, and athletics—and it continues today. With groundbreaking research as one of the hallmarks of our physical education program, our graduate students have gone on to become exceptional physical educators, coaches, and athletic administrators.

The opportunities to learn and prepare for careers in physical education and health promotion include coursework from a variety of subject areas, including pedagogy, motor learning and development, health and wellness, and athletic administration. The areas of concentration are varied and offer you many choices—whether you want to assist people with special needs to safely engage in physical activities, undertake an advanced-level coaching position, or take on a leadership position in intercollegiate and interscholastic athletics or manage health programs in varied settings.

Our multi-disciplinary approach, plus in-depth research, and in-the-field experience early on provide a solid foundation for the future success of our graduates. Get ready to create a healthier world.

Concentrations for this program include adapted physical education, advanced-level coaching, athletic administration, and health promotion and disease prevention.

We also offer an initial teacher licensure option.

A degree from Springfield College demonstrates not only competency in the field, but also represents someone who is committed to serving their greater community. I've been the beneficiary of this first hand and work to continue that legacy. Peter Gillen, '04, G'07, Principal at West Springfield Middle School
