Group Exercise Sampler

Thursday, Jan. 21, 7-8:30 p.m.

  • Join us for a sample of classes that will be offered this semester! Stay for one or all. Space is limited.

February is Love Your Body month! Campus Recreation, the Health Educator, and the PAWS (Peer Administered Wellness) will be doing a series of events to encourage you to love you body just the way it is. Look for a special issue of Stall Talk, Letters to My Body, and programming in the Wellness & Recreation Complex and in the Campus Union.


Beginner Yoga

Thursday, Feb. 4, 1 p.m.

Wellness and Recreation Complex, Room 214

  • Have you always wanted to try yoga but you don’t know where to start?  The instructor will demonstrate and help you practice basic yoga poses so you’ll feel comfortable attending a class.


Wellness Screening Day

Wednesday, Feb. 10, 12-4 p.m. (snow back-up date: Feb. 17) 

Wellness Resource Room, Wellness and Recreation Complex

  • Participants may stop by the Wellness Resource Room from 12-4 p.m. for wellness screenings. Screenings will include blood pressure, body composition (fat percentage), and resting heart rate measurements. Personal trainers and exercise science students will take the measurements and report your results and ratings immediately.


STI Testing

Thursday, Feb. 11, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Dodge Room, Union

  • Free STI testing will be offered! Give yourself and your partner a Valentine’s gift by making sure you get tested for STI’s including HIV. This program is offered in collaboration with the Health Center and Baystate Health. Space is limited.

Mindful Eating

Tuesday, Feb. 16, 7 p.m.

PE Complex, Room 117

  • Do you find yourself eating too quickly or mindlessly? Mindful eating is a technique that helps us slow down and enjoy our food. Free snacks!


American Red Cross Blood Drive

Thursday, Feb. 18, 12-6 p.m.

Judd Gymnasium, Union West

Documentary Viewing: The Illusionists

Monday, Feb. 22, 7 p.m.

ATES (Athletic Training and Exercise Science building), Room 225

  • In recognition of Love Your Body Month, we will be showing the documentary The Illusionists. This brand-new documentary turns the mirror on media, exposing the absurd, sometimes humorous, and shocking images that have saturated our lives with images of unattainable beauty.

Foam Rolling Workshop

Monday, March 28, 1 p.m.

Wellness and Recreation Complex, Room 214

  • Using a foam roller can reduce tightness, increase flexibility, and offer many of the same benefits as a massage.  A foam roller works by breaking down the scar tissue, while increasing circulation and blood flow to the surrounding soft tissue.   In this workshop you will learn proper foam rolling techniques for muscle groups head to toe! Attendees will have a chance to win a free foam roller.

FREE STI and HIV Testing

Monday, April 11, 10:00a.m. - 3:00p.m.

  • Free and confidential STI testing will be offered! Now is a great time to make sure that you have been tested. Space is limited. This program is offered in collaboration with the Health Center and Baystate Health.

Horizontal Training Workshop

Tuesday, April 12, 1 p.m.

Wellness and Recreation Complex, Room 202

  • Try out one of the best core workouts you’ve ever had, without ever doing a crunch! This workshop will combine horizontal moves with high-intensity cardio for an intense workout.

Fit Fest

Tuesday, April 26, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Wellness and Recreation Complex, Field House

  • Join us for our fun and interactive annual health and wellness festival. Participants will receive free t-shirts!  Participants can earn tickets for some awesome raffle prizes. 

Glow-Yo

Friday, April 29, 8 p.m.

Wellness and Recreation Complex, Room 214

  • This will not be your average relaxing yoga class. We will be transforming our group exercise room into a glow-in-the-dark space with glow-in-the-dark decorations and upbeat tunes. Be sure to wear white or neon. We will be providing glow necklaces and bracelets at the door.


Stress Relief Day

Tuesday, May 3, 12-4 p.m.

Wellness and Recreation Complex, Second Floor Lobby

  • Stop in and join us for some free, fun stress-relieving activities like chair massages, nail painting, make-your-own crafts, and much more!  Snacks will be provided.
