Online Writing Assistance for Distance Learners
In an effort to expand our services to the students of Springfield College, the Academic Success Center now offers online writing appointments for distance learners using Google Hangouts. Using Google Hangouts, students and tutors are able to face-time and collaborate on documents in real time. As a student at the College, you have access to Google Hangouts and Google Docs through your Springfield College email, so no downloads are necessary.
Expectations During the Appointment
Online appointments are conducted similarly to face-to-face meetings where tutors and students work collaboratively to improve writing and reading skills. During online appointments, our tutors can help you brainstorm; develop and refine ideas; provide strategies for APA, MLA, and AMA documentation; and improve your essay's organization.
While our tutors will not edit your paper, they will provide you with the tools to help you address issues of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Like face-to-face meetings, the goal of any online writing appointment is to provide you with the skills, strategies, and tools necessary to become effective writers and independent learners.
