Goal 1 : Students enrolled in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Graduate Program demonstrate an understanding of how to plan, organize and implement actions over time that focus on helping individuals attain healthier, thriving lives and well-being, free of preventable disease, disability, injury, and premature death.

      Students demonstrate proficiency in each of the National Commission of Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC) Seven Areas of Responsibility:

  • SLO 1 : Assess needs, resources and capacity for health education/promotion (Area I)
  • SLO 2 : Plan health education/promotion (Area II)
  • SLO 3 : Implement health education/promotion (Area III)
  • SLO 4 : Conduct evaluation and research related to health education/promotion  (Area IV)
  • SLO 5 : Administer and manage health education/promotion (Area V)
  • SLO 6 : Serve as a health education/promotion resource person (Area VI)
  • SLO 7 : Communicate, promote and advocate for health, health education/promotion and the profession (Area VII)

Goal 2 : Students enrolled in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Graduate Program identify and apply actions that promote public or population health or community health as well as environmental, regulatory, organizational, and legislative policies changes that help to eliminate health disparities, achieve health equity and attain health literacy for all.

      Students demonstrate proficiency in the following two NCHEC Areas of Responsibility:

  • SLO 8 : Serve as a health education/promotion resource person (Area VI)
  • SLO 9 : Communicate, promote and advocate for health, health education/promotion and the profession (Area VII)

Goal 3 : Students enrolled in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Graduate Program design, implement and evaluate public health or population health or community health programs that promote healthy development, healthy behaviors and well-being across all life stages.

      Students demonstrate proficiency in the following four NCHEC Areas of Responsibility:

  • SLO 10 : Assess needs, resources and capacity for health education/promotion (Area I)
  • SLO 11 : Plan health education/promotion (Area II)
  • SLO 12 : Implement health education/promotion (Area III)
  • SLO 13 : Conduct evaluation and research related to health education/promotion (Area IV)
  • SLO 14 : Administer and manage health education/promotion (Area V)

Goal 4 : Students enrolled in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Graduate Program can organize and engage leadership, community members and key stakeholders across multiple sectors to take action and to create social, physical and economic environments that improve the health and well-being of all.

      Students demonstrate proficiency in the following two NCHEC Areas of Responsibility:

  • SLO 15 : Serve as a health education/promotion resource person (Area VI)
  • SLO 16 : Communicate, promote and advocate for health, health education/promotion and the profession (Area VII)
