Recreation Management with a concentration in Community Youth Development and Leadership Program Outcomes
Goal 1: Students graduating from the program shall demonstrate an understanding of foundational knowledge necessary in recreation professions to perform higher level skills and abilities.
- SLO 1: Scope and Practices: Students will demonstrate entry-level knowledge of the scope and practices of relevant recreation related youth development professions and their associated industries.
- SLO 2: Foundations: Students will demonstrate entry-level knowledge of the historical, scientific, and philosophical foundations of relevant recreation related youth development professions.
Goal 2: Students graduating from the program shall demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to design, implement, and evaluate services that facilitate targeted human experiences and that embrace personal and cultural dimensions of diversity.
- SLO 3: Programming: Students will demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to design, implement, and evaluate services that facilitate targeted human experiences and that embrace personal and cultural dimensions of diversity.
- SLO 4: Leadership: Students will demonstrate entry-level leadership knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary in the provision of recreation services.
- SLO 5: Customer Service: Students will demonstrate entry-level customer service knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary in the provision of recreation services.
- SLO 6: Professionalism: Students will demonstrate entry-level professionalism knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary in the provision of recreation services.
Goal 3: Students graduating from the program shall demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to operate and strategically manage recreation services.
- SLO 7: Operations: Students will demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to operate recreation services, including planning, marketing, legal, finance, technology, and resource acquisition.
- SLO 8: Strategic Management: Students will demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to strategically manage recreation services.
- SLO 9: Critical Thinking: Students will demonstrate entry-level critical thinking knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary in the provision of recreation services.
- SLO 10: Communication: Students will demonstrate entry-level written and oral communication knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary in the provision of recreation services.
Goal 4: Students will demonstrate the potential to succeed as a professional at supervisory or higher levels in a recreation or related agency.
- SLO 11: Internship: Students will demonstrate the potential to succeed as a professional at supervisory or higher levels in a relevant recreation related youth serving agency through a comprehensive internship of no less than 405 clock hours and no fewer than 10 weeks.
