Teaching and Research Graduate Fellowship | Springfield College

Primary Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities are associated with teaching and research.  The fellow will be engaged and working with the faculty members to assist in classroom instruction in the MSW Springfield weekend program.  Duties may include the following:

  • Primary or secondary responsibility for classroom instruction.
  • Responsibility for tutoring or assisting students who need additional help or resources.
  • Responsibility for grading quizzes/tests/ or course assignments.
  • Responsibility for creating instructional materials for MSW courses.
  • Assisting faculty members with research, including assisting in data collection or analysis of data.

Narrative:

The graduate fellow will assist full-time and adjunct faculty members teaching MSW courses in the MSW weekend program.  The graduate fellow will hold regular office/tutoring hours on class weekends.  Additionally the fellow will assist faculty members conducting research on social work related topics,  teaching, and administrative duties.

 

Secondary Responsibilities: 

Secondary responsibilities will include administrative tasks.  These tasks will not exceed 35 or 40 percent.  Possible duties include:

  • Administrative responsibilities associated with recruitment of students;
  • Administrative responsibilities associated with preparing to take students out into community settings;
  • Assisting faculty members with doing administrative duties associated with research, such as data entry. 
  • Other office management tasks, such as copying, filing, etc.

 


Fellowship Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:  

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to work effectively with a highly diverse student population.
  • Possess great leadership skills
  • Teaching and research experience preferred.

Position Requirements:

The Fellow must be a graduate student at the Springfield College School of Social Work in good standing.  Fellow must be available on MSW weekends during the fall and spring semesters.

Hours per week:        The part-time fellow will work no more than 10 hours a week on Saturdays and Sundays on MSW class weekends.
