Class of 1962
Dear Springfield ’62 Classmates;
Where does all the time go? It seems like we were just enjoying our 50th class reunion and our 55th is just around the corner. The reunion committee is focused on making our 55th the best reunion yet and that means we need all of our classmates to attend. We had 40 members of the class attend our 50th reunion. In order increase that number we need YOU on campus at our June 8-11, 2017 Reunion. If you cannot come for the whole weekend, please plan to come for part.
If you have not yet had a chance to return your pre-response form, another is enclosed along with a reply envelope. Remember, this is not your formal registration. It is to give us an advanced idea of numbers for planning purposes.
We will be sending you a video that highlights some of our favorite spots from our student days at Springfield. It will also highlight some of the many physical changes that have transformed the campus to what it is today. You need to come back to see for yourself how great our alma mater looks. The one thing that has not changed is the climate. The students are still friendly and everyone still speaks to each other. Spirit, Mind and Body is alive and well.
We urge you to get out your copy of the Massasoit and look at the pictures of your friends from years ago. Think how much fun you had back then and plan to return for the reunion to talk with those friends and relive some of those memories.
To augment a gift to the College (which you will be hearing more about in the weeks to come), once again we will sponsor a silent auction. It will be open to all Reunion attendees. A change from previous years means that our class will have a chance to have the final bid on the items donated by our classmates. Please think of something you can contribute that could be of interest to others. We need to have the items have a minimum bid of $50.00. By April 15, 2017 please let our class President Beth Evans know what the item is, the fair market value and the minimum bid you feel is acceptable. Please send this info to Beth at email@example.com.
At this time we would also like to thank Beth for her continued efforts on behalf of the class of ’62. She continues to go above and beyond.

Believe it or not our 55 th Reunion is coming up soon!!! KEEP THE DATE: JUNE 8 - 11, 2017. Ron Coleman and Rick Moyer will be our Reunion Chairs again with Glenna Ball and Jeff Alino keeping us in line.We have lots of decisions to make and we hope that they will please everyone.
The Alumni Office has lots of ideas, both old and new, so if you have or have not been back recently there will be something for everyone.Our dinner is scheduled for the Saturday night and we will be served at the President’s house! Remember when we went to have cider and apples with Eva Belle?
Once again we will have a block of hotel rooms just for our class(info on those to come in the next letter), but if anyone wants to stay in the dorm, that is OK too!No need to worry about getting around the bigger campus, there will be golf carts everywhere.Special needs should be in writing to the Alumni Office, at least 2 weeks in advance of arrival.
Our hope is to get as many of our former classmates back as possible... and more than in reunions of the past!!Please start calling all of your old friends, roommates and teammates.If there is someone who actually graduated before or after us and who wants to be connected with our class they are WELCOME too!
There will be a silent auction again.Think about what you might be able to give that has a minimum bid of $50 .00.(Some of the items that go well are signed athlete jerseys, condo vacations, jewelry, concert tickets, gift certificates, autographed posters, SC memorabilia, SC afghans, etc.) We will need a description and minimum bid amount months in advance so start thinking now.A new procedure is that from 4 - 5 pm, before the dinner, time is reserved so that our class will have a chance to have the final bid on our items.
If someone in the class would like to be a speaker after the dinner, please let one of us know.We will need to have an“ Auction Chair” and a“ Reunion Gift Committee”.We will need to have people make phone calls.We could use a Facebook person to work with the College to set up something special for our class.
Below is a downloadable pre-response form (this is not your formal registration). Please fill it out and return it in the enclosed envelope.
Please contact one of us with your ideas:
