Class of 1965
We hope this message finds you well during this unusual time of social distancing, work from home, shelter in place, and quarantine. Even as you are adjusting to this new normal, we suspect, too, that you are doing all that you can to stay connected with your communities. Such is the Springfield College way.
As the College continues to adjust plans based on prevailing direction of this pandemic, the President's Leadership Team (PLT) has made the difficult but prudent decision to postpone Reunion 2020. This, of course, comes at a time when the President has also communicated that Commencement will be postponed. Classes celebrating Reunion in 2020 are invited to join those classes celebrating Reunion in 2021 for what will be a tremendous celebration that is scheduled for June 10-13, 2021.
The Alumni Council and your respective Reunion Committees have been apprised of this decision. Your Reunion Committees and the Alumni Relations staff will continue to communicate with you and share information regarding the GRAND Reunion in 2021 as plans unfold. We look forward to welcoming you HOME between June 10 and 13, 2021 if not before. In the meantime please stay well and stay safe .

To the Springfield College Class of 1965
I hope you are, as I am, looking forward to a great holiday season spent with family
I know there’s a lot to think about at this time of year, so we’ll remind you again, that 2020 is the year that our Class of ’65 will have our 55th reunion at Springfield.
The dates are June 11-14, 2020. We’ll let you know in the New Year a more formal agenda for our gathering, including a great hotel deal. We’ll also have scheduled shuttles from the hotel to the campus, and once on campus, golf carts to help us get around.
Even if you can’t attend for the entire weekend, stop by and say “hi” for a few hours, we’d love to see you.
Let your classmates know that you’re planning to be there and urge them to attend also.
You may recall the good time we had at the Fort/Student Prince at our 50th reunion. The Fort had just reopened under new management. I had eaten there a few times with my parents during student days. It was the first and only time I’ve eaten wild bear. Bob Lincoln is investigating arrangements for us to have an informal gathering at the Fort for our return in June.
As always, if you can remember SC in your charitable giving this year, I’m sure it would be appreciated. I have a somewhat painless way of donating; every year about this time when I make my minimum required withdrawal from my IRA, I have some $$ sent to the college tax-free. As some of you may recall, five years ago we (SC ’65) set up a scholarship fund in Mike West’s name. Mike was a friend and worked tirelessly for SC. I feel good about making a donation to the Mike West fund every year. Another easy way to support our alma mater is to make a small change to your estate plans by naming Springfield College as a beneficiary. Planned gifts are simple, powerful, and can be a tax-smart way of making your gift. If you have questions or would like to learn more about planned giving or giving through your IRA, contact Bonnie Cox G’88, director of planned giving, at 413-748-3736 or email@example.com.
You can download a pre-response form below and let us know if you think you’ll be able to be there. We’re not asking for a commitment at this time, but we’d like to have a general idea of how many and who will attend.
