 REUNION 2019 HOME

Class of 1969

April 2019

Happy spring to the Class of ’69,

As we welcome the arrival of spring, we look forward to welcoming you all back to your
SC 50th Reunion this June 6th to 9th. While the registration brochure will follow in April, we would like to encourage you to reserve your rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn in Springfield,
(413) 886-8000. Be sure to mention that you are a part of the Springfield College Reunion Class of ’69. (Scheduled shuttles between Springfield College and the Hilton Garden Inn will be available – as are golf cart shuttles, once you are on campus.)

Besides having lots of opportunities to see and share memories with classmates, you can look forward to wonderful meals, of which several are complimentary. Friday morning, if you are not a golfer, there’s a lovely breakfast held at Reeds Landing, a senior community adjacent to the College. Dinner on Friday night is a fabulous buffet in the Dining Hall, including live music of our generation, dancing, and other treats. Saturday, President Cooper hosts us for a brunch prior to our induction into the “Golden Triangle Society”. We then move on to the renovated MacLean Terrace behind Alumni Hall, where the program will include class photos, followed by the “parade of classes” to the dining hall. This lunch (for those who registered) also offers you the opportunity to practice “SC Humanics” by stuffing animals for local children’s hospitals, putting together dried soup mixes for a soup kitchen, or writing notes to our deployed military. In the evening, class dinner will begin with President Cooper giving us a champagne toast in the Museum. Next we move over to the ballroom for an evening of good company, and food. Our guest speakers, Dr. Ted France ’91 G’93 and a student will share what makes Springfield College so unique and special today. Finally, before leaving on Sunday, there is one last opportunity to say good-bye to your friends with a breakfast buffet compliments of the Alumni Association.

It’s with great confidence that we will not only guarantee a wonderful time to all who attend, but assure you how proud you will be of your Alma Mater – Springfield College!

January 2019

Greetings SC Class of ’69,

A new year is always associated with new resolutions. Since our graduation we probably all have made and broken many of these.  It is our biggest hope that resolving to return to Springfield College for our 50th reunion is one you will make and keep this June. We guarantee you can look forward to a weekend of wonderful celebrations. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with your classmates; folks you may or may not still recognize but shared many experiences with.

A member of the “Giving” committee has contacted many of you and they are encouraged by your generosity. Of course these dollars are very important to a small college that promotes service to others over personal gain to their graduates, so be assured that any additional funds you can offer will always be valued and welcomed.

Springfield College was and still is special in many ways.  It is one of the few campuses where people look at you and still say “hello”.  Its “Humanics” philosophy of “Spirit, Mind, and Body” lives on.

The recognition that today’s students and faculty and countless numbers of you – the Alumni, have received for all the service you give to others is impressive.  While over 100 years ago, the students were nicknamed the “Stubby Christians”; you along with today’s student body and faculty are a diverse group of people who share a common goal of making a positive difference.  We look forward to hearing about your lives. So bring your memories, and pictures, and enjoy a weekend or even a day with those who shared four years of your life on the shores of Lake Massasoit. And, remember to make your hotel reservations by calling the Hilton Garden Inn at (413) 886-8000 by May 6, 2019 with your major credit card. Watch your mail and email for more details as plans unfold.

Be well, be happy, and be on the lookout for more information!

November 2018

Hello ’69 Classmates,

The leaves are all changing now on the shores of Lake Massasoit. As we view this pretty site from the top of Rally Hill it made us think back. Do you remember the fall of 1965 when we came as first year students? We were all excited to start our academic pursuits and learn to cope with our new independence. Over four years we all made good friendships and maybe even found a spouse. We studied hard to gain a fine education. We have much to be thankful for. As Thanksgiving approaches, this is a time to reflect and think of our journeys and all those who helped us on our way. We wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving, joyous holidays and a Happy New Year. Thinking of the New Year, we sure hope you plan to return to campus for our 50th year reunion. Our campus has changed and is beautiful. Our mission has stayed the same. We look forward to seeing you. Remember to make your hotel reservations. Our class block is at the Hilton Garden Inn call (413) 886-8000 with your major credit card by May 6, 2019 to reserve your room! Don’t forget to ask for the Springfield College Class of 1969 block.

June 6, 7, 8, 9, mark these dates on your calendar (if you can’t come for the whole weekend, come for part).

The Alumni Association now sponsors 4 Reunion Class Competitions. Being a competitive bunch, your Reunion Committee would like to “bring home” all 4 trophies.

The categories are:

  1. Class with the most SPIRIT. So dig out your beanies and SC swag. Bring a noise maker. Buy those new maroon sneakers you’ve been wanting. Find your Varsity sweater and squeeze into it.
  2. Highest percent of attendees. If you can’t come for the whole weekend come for a day, an afternoon, an hour, drive down Alden Street. JUST COME HOME!
  3. Highest percent of donors.  No gift is too small. Join the Reunion Committee in choosing our Alma Mater for some of your philanthropic dollars.
  4. Most money raised. Every dollar counts. Again, choose to invest a portion of your discretionary dollars to SC.

Help demonstrate the Class of 1969 were, are, and always will be incredible leaders.

Again we wish you joy and blessing in the Holiday Season!

September 2018

Ahoy, '69 classmates,

Time is flying by as we all have been sailing through life. Our 50th Springfield College Reunion is coming up June 6,7,8,9, 2019. We would like to see everyone sail back to the shores of Lake Massasoit. We will have a weekend packed with fun activities, celebrations, great food and wonderful fellowship. One of our goals is to bring back and reunite as many of us as possible. That weekend we will become members of the Golden Triangle Club for reaching 50 years as Alumni of the college.

Our goals are to bring back and reunite as many of us as possible and support Springfield College with our class fundraising efforts.

If you have any questions or want to help in any capacity, please contact any one of the committee members listed below.
