Class of 1972

April 2022

  • 50? Really? Yikes!
  • Bodies change. Minds change. Spirit? Maybe not.
  • You won’t recognize the campus.
  • The city changed. Take a look at the Dr. Seuss Museum. Take a look at The Museum of Springfield History. Lose a few bucks at the MGM Casino.
  • Jump off the trestle. (Maybe not) :-) Who did that?
  • So, you’re waiting for a better chance to see old friends, make new friends? We’re not getting any younger.
  • And if you haven’t already, soon you will receive both by mail and email, the official Reunion 2022 registration brochure.
  • Added to that schedule will be a very special program sponsored by our class and open to all returners entitled “Humanics: In Service to ALL. How do we get to ALL?” This program will be co-facilitated by our own Rick Paar. It will take place Saturday afternoon. Details will be in the guidebook, which you will receive when you arrive on campus.
  • Another program just to honor us is the Saturday morning Golden Triangle Breakfast, hosted by SC President, Dr. Mary-Beth Cooper and emceed by Jeff Cadorette ’72. You will be receiving a separate invitation for this breakfast.
  • Make your hotel reservations at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Enfield, CT by calling (860) 741-2211 by May 13, 2022 with your major credit card. Ask for the Springfield College Reunion block.
  • “Time it was, and what a time it was, it was. Time it was, and what a time it was, a time of innocence, a time of confidences. Long ago, (Simon and Garfunkel, Bookends) it must be, I have a photograph Preserve your memories.”

Looking forward to seeing you in June!

February/March 2022

Our 50th Reunion is June 9-12, 2022

  • We really, really, really hope to see you, even if it is only for one or two events during Reunion Weekend.  Covid precautions will be in place and many events will be outdoors.
  • None of us have changed in any way since ’72, so we are guessing that you haven’t either, but we still really would love to see you and catch up.
  • Four lucky alumni, randomly chosen from the class of ’72, will have the honor of performing a Fundamentals of Rhythm Routine.
  • If you can’t make it to the 50th reunion for the class of ’72, we sure hope to see you at the 100th reunion in 2072.  :-)
  • We especially hope to see you if you are in the class of ’72..... 72 years old….. or anything close to that.....or if you knew someone from the class of '72..... or wish you knew someone from the class of '72..... now's your chance.
  • Invite a friend, or 20, to join you and anyone else who may be from another class while we were at Springfield who might want to join our class.....
  • Our thought is if we don't visit now, when?  Looking forward to some GREAT storytelling.
  • We showed my kids pictures of us in our Freshman Beanies. They just laughed.
  • 1972 Best Picture Oscar: French Connection; 2022 Best Event: Our Springfield Connection. Please come celebrate and reconnect
  • To get the memories and stories flowing the video Rick and Jim made 5 years ago is attached. We encourage you to watch it.

We look forward to seeing you,

Your 50th Reunion Committee

December 2021

To all class of 72 members,

This is a little note to say Happy Holidays and save the date for our 50th Reunion,
June 9 - 12, 2022. Plan to come for one hour or the entire weekend, just come back and be part of our 50th Reunion.

Why attend?

  •  We get one chance to do #50.
  • See classmates not seen in a long while.
  •  Relive some memories, anyone got film of the SC vs UMASS Basketball game?
  • Can you still find your beanie or letter sweater? This is a fabulous excuse to wear them.
  • Who would you like to eat dinner with? Call them, text them, send them a carrier pigeon and encourage them to come back also.
  • Many members of the classes of 70 and 71 who, because of Covid, celebrated their 50th just a couple of weeks ago reported having the time of their lives.
  • If you were an athlete while we were in school or have a set workout routine now, enjoy a swim in the pool and working out in the NEW Field House (a huge difference from the old airplane hangar).
  • Our classmate Jeff Cadorette will emcee the breakfast at which we are inducted into the Golden Triangle Society.

Again please save the date, make hotel reservations at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Enfield, CT just 10 minutes from Campus (860) 741-2211 by May 13, 2022. Ask for the Springfield College Reunion block. There will be a scheduled shuttle between the hotel and campus so once you are there you do not need to drive. AND please fill out and return the enclosed pre-response form in the enclosed reply envelope. It is just to give us an idea of who plans to attend. It is NOT a formal registration. Also much of our Reunion information will come by email. Please make sure to share your email address.

On behalf of our Reunion Committee:
