Update from President Cooper - 20th March

Friday, March 20, 2020

To the Springfield College Community,

I want to provide an update to you and report that the process of our students coming back to campus to collect their belongings and move out of their residence halls has been going smoothly. I want to thank our deeply committed staff in our offices of Residence Life, Public Safety, and Facilities who are continually sanitizing areas and surfaces, as well as our students and families for working together and managing the move out while maintaining appropriate social distance.

In addition, I want the community to be aware that we are taking steps to support and assure the safety of our international students. We are working with our students to determine appropriate courses of action regarding the needs of our international students as well as those domestic students who have no place to go. We are assisting with international student travel plans if it is the students’ preference to return home. We are making accommodations for them here on campus if it is their preference to remain on campus.

The move out process will continue over the next several days and we are prepared to make adjustments as is warranted by the changing conditions around us. All of us at Springfield College want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we make our way through a difficult and unprecedented time.

Best,

Mary-Beth A. Cooper

Springfield College President
