April 21: COVID Reminders | Springfield College

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As we wrap an eventful semester and academic year, a few COVID-19 reminders are provided here to help keep everyone safe, healthy, and able to fully participate in our culminating events of the year.

Our region is experiencing a slight increase in COVID-19 cases related to the BA.2 variant. To minimize the impact on our campus and the surrounding community, we ask you to consider the following.

Masks: Wearing high-quality masks when indoors in crowded spaces is recommended, and we welcome mask-wearing in any context. KN95 masks continue to be available to pick up at the front desks of the Student Union, Learning Commons, and Wellness Center. Human Resources also still has masks for employees.

Testing: Please take a rapid test at home or call the Health Center to set up a same-day appointment if you have symptoms or were exposed to someone who tested positive. Drop-in testing will remain available at regular testing hours Monday, Wednesday & Thursday through Monday, May 9. Drop-in weekly PCR testing will be suspended for the summer, but rapid tests will remain available by appointment at the Health Center for those exhibiting symptoms. If you test positive with an at home-test, please email your test result to healthcenter@springfield.edu.

Boosters: The college continues to require that all students and employees who study or work on our main campus in Springfield, MA have received a booster within 14 days of their eligibility.

Looking Ahead: We do not anticipate making changes to any of our current COVID-19 protocols, but will continue to monitor campus and community rates of infections to assess the need for changes, as well as follow any new local ordinances. We will continue to monitor various sources of information to make decisions about summer and fall policies, and communicate those as more information becomes available.

Be sure to visit our College COVID webpage for all updates in case numbers, policies, and more: https://springfield.edu/covid

Thank you for your continued commitment to the campus community and congratulations to all of our soon-to-be graduates!

Sincerely,

Vice President for Student Affairs
