Re: Returning to the U.S.

Saturday, February 29, 2020

Dear Students and Families,

To follow up from last night's email, I wish to emphasize that Springfield College is withdrawing all study abroad students from Italy.  This decision is in line with safety protocol established by our administration. The virus is likely to continue to spread and your safety is a priority.  We are here to help you if you encounter difficulty with arrangements.

Thank you to those who have already forwarded itineraries to me.  Most airlines are not charging for the change in schedules due to the circumstances.  If questioned, you may refer to this email as an indication that the College has required this action.  You should have no difficulty with immigration or customs either leaving Italy nor entering the U.S. We have not heard of any move to quarantine travelers returning to the U.S. from Italy, but be aware that the situation may change at any time.  Please let me know when you have arrived safely to your home in the U.S.

I reiterate, all the support services of the College are here at your disposal now and when you return.

Travel safely and I look forward to hearing from all of you in the coming days.

Best regards,

Deborah Alm | Director
Doggett International Center
