An Important Message from the President

Sunday, March 15, 2020

Dear Faculty and Staff,

As efforts across the Commonwealth, the country, and the world to contain COVID-19 continue to intensify, Springfield College is relaxing its policy on working remotely. In keeping with the attempt to flatten the curve, I have made the decision that staff and faculty who can work from home should do so during Spring Break from March 16 through March 22. Supervisors and Division Vice Presidents will reach out individually with further information about working remotely and what it means for you.

The College will remain open as our work continues. Therefore, you will be able to come to campus if you need to pick up work materials to work remotely. We will use technology to facilitate this transition. The expectations are that any meetings will continue to be held via Zoom or teleconferencing and that all employees continue to closely monitor emails and to respond to any student or college-related requests in a timely manner.

We are all changing the way we work and interact with others. We understand that you have personal commitments and that this is a great and necessary adjustment for all of you. Our decision is consistent with the recommendations of leading health officials for social-distancing and slowing the spread of the disease.

We will continue to monitor the situation and look for us to be in touch with you as we learn more.

Sincerely,

Mary-Beth Cooper

Springfield College President
