Sept. 1, 2020 | Springfield College

Dear Springfield College Community,

We would like to thank everyone for their cooperation during our first week of COVID-19 testing. As we head into our second week of testing and our first week of classes, we appreciate the campus community’s continued commitment to adhering to social distancing guidelines, mask requirements, and health and safety standards.

Springfield College has tested more than 2,100 students. We have confirmed that one student has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The student will remain in isolation at home for at least 10 days. This student will continue their studies remotely until they are cleared to return to campus.

A trained campus Contact Tracing team is working in concert with the Springfield College Health Center and the City of Springfield Department of Public Health to identify anyone who has been determined to be a direct contact. They will be notified by Springfield College Health Center staff and be given further guidance, including further testing and possible 14-day quarantine.

Students in quarantine on campus must remain in their designated space, will take their classes remotely, will be monitored by Residence Life and Health Center staff, and will have food delivered to them.

The Rapid Response Team will continue to keep you updated throughout the semester via email and on the dashboard on the COVID-19 page at springfield.edu/covid.

Best,

Sue Nowlan
Dean of Students and Rapid Response Team Chair
