2016 Spalding Hoophall Classic Information

 
 
Springfield College is proud to once again host the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2016 Spalding Hoophall Classic. The event will take place in Blake Arena from Thursday, Jan. 14, through Monday, Jan. 18 and celebrates the 125th anniversary of the sport of basketball that was invented at Springfield College by Dr. James Naismith in 1891.
 
The tournament continues to be one of the premier high school basketball events nationwide. We will welcome 50 teams and more than 8,000 visitors to campus throughout the weekend. The College enters the national stage again this year as many of the games will be televised on ESPN and ESPNU. 
 
The Spalding Hoophall Classic will feature several Class of 2016 Top 100 players including four of the nation’s top six according to ESPN: Jayson Tatum (Chaminade, MO), Harry Giles (Oak Hill Academy, VA), Malik Monk(Bentonville, AR), and Bam Adebayo (High Point Christian, NC). A total of 25 players out of the ESPN Top 100 in the Class of 2016 will participate.
 
Girl's basketball takes center court all day Friday with four games scheduled. Highlights include defending Western Mass Div. I champion and state finalist Springfield Central playing the number two ranked team in New York, Christ the King of Middle Village, NY, at 8:30 p.m. and Western Mass Div. III champion and state finalist Hoosac Valley of Adams playing South Hadley at 5:30 p.m.
