Shamar Martin '20 Part of Red Sox Opening Day Ceremony

The Red Sox Opening Day is always an exciting one for Massachusetts-based Springfield College, but this year was extra special. Shamar Martin ’20 has accomplished a lot both during his time at Springfield College and since.

The Red Sox Opening Day is always an exciting one for Massachusetts-based Springfield College, but this year was extra special. Shamar Martin ’20 has accomplished a lot both during his time at Springfield College and since.

Martin played football at the College was an active member of the community, and enlisted in the National Guard during his first-year. His service to his country included being called to protect during the riots at the Capital earlier this year. Since graduation, Martin has also been working in the Red Sox sales office, a job he says was made possible by the people he met and connected with at Springfield College. This year, to honor his commitment to his country, his hard work for the Red Sox organization, and his dedication to those around him, the Red Sox asked Martin to be among those to throw out the first pitch on Opening Day.

Congratulations Shamar! Springfield College is so proud you.
