The Springfield College Regional and Online Class of 2020 celebrated with a virtual commencement ceremony.

Rhode Island State Representative

Grace Diaz, '08, G'10 - (4:48 to 13:28)

A native of the Dominican Republic, Diaz has been representing District 11 of Providence, Rhode Island since 2004. Representative Diaz is a proud alumna of the Springfield College Boston campus.  

During her ongoing tenure as Rhode Island State Representative, she has achieved many political accolades, and here are a few that are worth mentioning: Democratic Caucus Chair, First Vice Chairwoman, House Committee on Special Legislation, and Member of House Committee on Finance.

Additionally, she has worked tirelessly to address social inequalities by focusing on policies to improve childcare services for low-income families, public transportation access for the elderly, and affordable healthcare and child welfare amongst many other important topics facing her community.

We congratulate Representative Diaz for her continued success and hard work. We are immensely grateful that she accepted our request as one of the keynote speakers for the Class of 2020 Virtual Graduation Celebration.

Springfield College Professor Emeritus

Richard Dávila - (13:30 to 23:23)

Dávila is a Recovery Life Coach Professional who helps individuals seeking regular ongoing coaching and recovery support for people in recovery to build a solid foundation. He is the President of Recovery All, Inc., a company that focuses on Recovery Support Services for all pathways to recovery.

Dávila is the co-author of four books: Living Your Life Not Your Story, (second edition)A Holistic Look at Substance Use Recovery; a book to encourage the recovery wellness modelBehavioral Health Mentor, and Recovery Family Mentor Workbook. He has also written numerous articles for respected academic addiction journals. Further, Dávila has presented at several national addiction conferences. 

During the 2006-07 academic year, Dávila was appointed Distinguished Professor of Humanics, the highest faculty distinction as a faculty member at Springfield College. After 33 years of service to Springfield College as Campus Director and then tenured Professor, Dávila retired in August 2017.
