Springfield College Theater Production How to Survive the Grey Goo

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Springfield College will host a theater production entitled How to Survive the Grey Goo from Thursday, April 4, through Sunday, April 7, in the Appleton Auditorium in the Fuller Arts Center.  Shows will begin at 8 p.m., on April 4, 5 and 6.  There will be a matinee on April 7 at 2 p.m.  The performance is part of the 2013 William Simpson Fine Arts Series.  

Created by Springfield College students and directed by Springfield College Professor of Theatre Arts Martin Shell, this production is an extraordinary original creation—a response to the hyper-stimulated, meme-driven, instant fame, instant shame culture—by student artists.  Actors, digital and computer artists, musicians, writers, dancers, videographers, designers, and communicators of all stripes collaborate in a live and digital, interactive, multimedia performance event. 

This show promises to be an unexpected, once-in-a-lifetime collaboration, and a transformational gift for the senses, mind, and spirit, that focuses on the following questions:  Are people drowning in the ocean of their own communications? What are the stories that have gotten them here? What are the stories that will carry them into the future? And how will young artists and digital natives use every means they can to tell their own stories?
