Springfield College Sport Management and Recreation Department Hosts Weckwerth e-Series

The Springfield College Sport Management and Recreation Department hosted its Weckwerth e-Series for the spring semester on Wednesday, March 3. The Weckwerth e-Series brings leading experts in the fields of sport management and recreation to Springfield College to address emerging trends in these areas.

The virtual presentation featured: Nate Harris ’08, Assistant General Manager, Director of Marketing, Spectra; Branwen Smith-King ’78, G'79, Bermuda Olympic Committee; and Sean Finucane ’93, G'95 Vice President, Sales and Operations, Reebok USA.

 

The Springfield College Sport Management and Recreation Department hosted its Weckwerth e-Series for the spring semester on Wednesday, March 3. The Weckwerth e-Series brings leading experts in the fields of sport management and recreation to Springfield College to address emerging trends in these areas.

The trio talked about leadership and building an inclusive organization. The focus was on research that has shown that diverse organizations perform better, and that leadership is needed to promote diversity and inclusion throughout the organization.

The three Springfield College alumni highlighted about the importance of developing diversity and inclusion initiatives, including some of the struggles of that process.

The Weckwerth Lecture is named in honor of the late Charles F. Weckwerth, who was a distinguished Springfield College professor of Humanics, and annually brings leading experts in the fields of sport management and recreation to Springfield College to address emerging trends in these fields.
