Georgia Perreault, a student in Springfield College’s online master's degree program in Health Promotion and Health Equity, teaches at Ludlow High School

With increasing attention on health practices in American society, the future employment opportunities for qualified health educators are increasing and expanding. Health educator specialists work to encourage healthy lifestyles and wellness through the education of individuals and communities about behaviors that promote healthy living and prevent disease. Become a health educator through the Springfield College Health/Family and Consumer Sciences licensure major.

Our program prepares students to teach grades PreK through 12. Students will learn about state and national standards, create skills-based unit and lesson plans, design assessments to evaluate learning, and reflect on their practice.  Special emphases are placed on understanding and meeting the needs of all learners.

Upon graduation, students can expect to obtain employment as health educators in elementary and secondary public and private schools.  Alumni of the program become leaders in their field, including as state and regional teachers of the year and officers within professional organizations.

“I loved that the philosophy of educating the whole person in spirit, mind, and body is intertwined in the curriculum of each and every class. ” Katelee McCormic, '22
