Psychology Careers and Internships | Springfield College

Psychology Careers and Internships

The psychology program faculty members strive to prepare students in the broad field of psychology, emphasizing critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Internships

All undergraduate psychology majors participate in an applied internship experience. These experiences help students develop essential professional skills, expand students’ professional networks, and promote career development. Applied experiences include internships such as conducting research with a faculty member, shadowing mental health rehabilitation specialists, co-facilitating support groups for grieving youth, shadowing intake assessment for early intervention services, and assisting with literary skills assessments and interventions in elementary, middle, and high schools.

“My favorite part of being a psychology major has been the real life experience I was able to get in the field. I was able to work with mental health patients, grieving patients, and older and younger individuals. Every day of being in this program has reassured me that I am on the right path academically, professionally, and personally.” Mary Salvatoriello '17
