According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment of mental health counselors is projected to grow 29 percent from 2012 to 2022, and the projection for rehabilitation counselors is also expected to grow by 22 percent. Both these projections are much faster than the average for all occupations. Part of this increase is due to the increase in the veterans, people with disabilities, and the elderly population.

Graduates of the community counseling psychology program have gone on to become community counselors, mental health counselors, and rehabilitation counselors in public, private, and corporate settings.
