The School of Social Work and Behavioral Sciences is housed in this building at 45 Island Pond Road, about two miles from the main campus in Springfield. It features multiple classrooms, an auditorium, and faculty offices to prepare undergraduate and graduate students for careers in counseling, social work, human services, psychology, and offers programs that are student centered, community focused, and committed to diversity and social justice.

Springfield College Professor of Social Work Provides Keynote Address at the Chinese University of Political Science and Law

Springfield College Professor of Social Work Dr. Joseph Wronka recently presented a keynote address and lecture at the Chinese University of Political Science and Law in China. Wronka, a long-standing professor of the Springfield College Department of Graduate Social Work, was invited to give a keynote address at the International Conference on Natural Law, Human Rights, and Traditional Chinese Culture, which was jointly sponsored by the Chinese University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) and the Institute of Human Rights in Beijing.

Springfield College Master of Social Work Student Carlton J. Smith Named National Association of Social Work Connecticut MSW Student of the Year

The Springfield College Department of Graduate Social Work is proud to announce that Master of Social Work student Carlton J. Smith has been awarded the National Association of Social Workers Connecticut Chapter’s (NASW/CT) Master of Social Work Student of the Year honor. Smith received his award at the annual NASW/CT Awards dinner on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Inn at Middletown in Middletown, Conn.

As part of the conference, keynote speaker Kevin Kruger, president of NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, presented on “Seven Trends for the Future of Student Affairs.”
Springfield College Hosts Student Affairs Drive-In Conference

The Springfield College Division of Student Affairs hosted a Student Affairs Drive-In Conference on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019 on the campus. The event featured more than 14 colleges from throughout the country, and focused on prospective students interested in pursuing careers and master’s degrees in student affairs, current graduate students enrolled in student affairs master’s degree programs, and rising professionals in the student affairs profession.

Springfield College welcomed Renowned Leader in Multicultural Counseling and Past President of the American Counseling Association Patricia Arredondo on Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the Harold C. Smith Presentation Room in the Stitzer Welcome Center at Judd Gymnasia. Arredondo, who is president of Arredondo Advisory Group, discussed how heterogeneity of Latinx clients provides rich opportunities for culture-specific learning and practice.

Springfield College Rehabilitation Counseling Graduate Program Awarded Rehabilitation Service Administration (RSA) Long Term Training Grant

The Springfield College Rehabilitation Counseling Graduate Program has been awarded a five-year, $996,172, Rehabilitation Service Administration (RSA) Long Term Training Grant from the United States Department of Education. With the announcement of this award, the Rehabilitation Counseling Graduate Program will actively be recruiting RSA grant scholars to begin the program starting in the Fall of 2020.
