Martin Shell has a strong interest in ensemble training and creative process, physical theater, and mask characterization. Starting out as a filmmaker, he then performed extensively as a mime and an actor. He helped found the nationally noted Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble and continues as an associate ensemble member. He has directed in many styles of theater and excels at guiding students through group generated site-specific pieces, now commonly called “devised theater." His more recent work incorporates live manipulation of digital media integrated with the improvising actor sustaining rapport with his audience.
