Applied Exercise Science Fellowship

Primary Responsibilities

Dr. Headley’s graduate fellow has the primary responsibility for teaching the labs in AEXS 360, AEXS 561 and assisting Dr. Headley with AEXS 602 and AEXS 675.   Responsibilities include instructing lab sections and grading for AEXS 360, AEXS 561 courses. In addition, the fellow must have a strong knowledge of electrocardiography and the ACSM guidelines with the ability to grade course assignments and supervise exercise tests. Dr. Headley’s Fellow is responsible for the assessment of key skills in the AEXS 360 class to prepare students to successfully complete the ACSM’s Certified Exercise Physiologist exam. The Fellow will hold regular office/tutoring hours and meet with students to tutor those who are having difficulty understanding the content of the classes.

 

 


Fellowship Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:  

The individual needs to have the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or other science related field (e.g Biology, Chemistry, Physics. etc)
  • ACSM certification (Certified Exercise Physiologist or higher)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills in order to work with students and the general public (patients with disease conditions)
  • Good organizational skills
  • An interest in clinical exercise physiology
  • Current AED certification

Position Requirements: 

The Fellow must be a full-time graduate student at Springfield College in good standing in the Clinical Exercise Physiology or Exercise Physiology programs. This individual needs to be ACSM certified at the level of the Certified Exercise Physiologist or higher (e.g.,CCEP)
