Art Therapy/Counseling

Primary Responsibilities:

The Fellow will be responsible for assisting the professor in preparing materials for courses and to assist in teaching.  This may include creating visuals, power points, rubrics and instructional materials as well as the posting of materials on Moodle. Responsibilities include tutoring of students who need help with classroom assignments. The fellow must be available before and after the professor’s classes and be able to assist with other art therapy faculty on occasion. The fellow should have basic skills in research and the ability to help with data collection and analysis. The fellow will be engaged and working with the faculty member to assist in classroom instruction. Further the fellow is responsible for holding regular office/tutoring hours and meet with students regarding teaching strategies, concerns and questions they may have.

Secondary Responsibilities: 

These tasks will not exceed 40 percent of the fellows’ time.

  • Administrative responsibilities associated with the accreditation of the graduate art therapy/counseling program.
  • Assisting the faculty member with administrative tasks related to admission and retention of students.
  • Assisting with activities related to the professional development of students.  
  • Assisting the faculty member with administrative duties associated with program maintenance including office management tasks, such as copying, filing, the up keep of supplies etc.
  • Occasional van driving of students to field trips would be an extra plus.

Fellowship Required Qualifications

 

  • Strong ability in studio art
  • Ability in graphic design
  • Some teaching experience or work in the field on an undergraduate level is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge and interest in art therapy
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of technology

Position Requirements:

The Fellow must be a full-time graduate student at Springfield College in good standing and in a field of study directly related to the Fellowship.  Valid Driver’s license and the ability to obtain driver safety certification is a plus.   

Hours per week:  Part-time Fellow will work no more than 10 hours a week.
