Campus Recreation (SA) - Fitness & Wellness
Primary Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include the supervision of and assistance with our group exercise and personal training programs. Additionally, this position requires assistance with the development, facilitation, and marketing of various wellness programs and events. Other responsibilities include either leading or assisting with our Employee Wellness programs/offerings, and either teaching or co-teaching the PEPC 146: Principles of Group Fitness Instruction (academic) course. Duties may include any of the following:

Teach 1-3 group exercise classes per week.

Assist in evaluating group exercise instructors’ performance.

Assist with the interviewing, hiring, and training of group exercise instructors and personal training staff.

Lead staff (group exercise instructors and personal trainers) in-services during staff meetings.

Supervise registration and assignment of personal training clients.

Facilitate at least 2 wellness programs per semester.

Distribute marketing materials for wellness programs and participate in tabling to promote those programs or other services.

Lead at least one Employee Wellness (Motivation Monday) presentation per semester.

Co-Instruct the PEPC 146: Principles of Group Fitness Instruction course – this includes facilitating the lecture portion of the course, and evaluating and assessment student skill demonstrations.
Fellowship Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Candidates should have experience leading or supervising a group and possess strong management, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills. Candidates should be creative, organized, and be able to manage their time well. Candidates should have a strong background in exercise science, strength and conditioning, or personal training, including knowledge of the American College of Sports Medicine’s (ACSM) recommendations for physical activity and exercise. Position Requirements: Candidates should be a full-time student in a two-year graduate program. Preference will go to candidates who hold a nationally accredited group exercise instructor and/or personal training certification(s). Candidates are required to have their adult CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
