NOTE: Students admitted to the Student Affairs Administration (SAA) master's program receive priority consideration.

Primary Responsibilities:

The graduate fellow will facilitate career counseling to undergraduate and graduate students through appointments, drop-ins, workshops. Deliver presentations on career development and job search skills; train students on use of career software; and develop and promote and market Career Center programs and services to students. Specific duties include:

  • Critiquing resumes/cover letters (during walk-in hours and by appointment)
  • Introducing students to FOCUS2 (Career Exploration Computer Program)
  • Assisting students in using the Career Center library resources including Job Connect, Business Card software, Internet and the center’s homepage
  • Advising students on graduate school selection, application process, and usage of GRE software
  • Coordinating and marketing office workshops, programs and events
  • Assisting with creation of weekly student e-newsletter
  • Maintaining the center’s social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter & Facebook
  • Outreaching to residence life, student clubs, organizations, athletics, and class officers for collaboration around career-related programming
  • Overseeing the Job Shadowing Program

Secondary Responsibilities: 

Some duties can include:

  • Delivering career related Residence Hall programs and Academic class presentations
  • Initiating special projects
  • Supporting administrative staff as necessary
  • Participating in weekly staff meetings and trainings

Fellowship Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

Effective and strong interpersonal, organizational, writing, and computer skills.  Ability to work in a busy student centered, team-oriented environment that is committed to providing quality customer service.  Must be flexible, skilled in managing multiple tasks, and capable of working with minimal supervision.  Experience and interest in working with college age adults preferred. Some occasional night and weekend commitments will be required.

 

Position Requirements:

Applicants need to be a full time graduate student at Springfield College.
