Career Center, Graduate Associate
The Graduate Associate will support the daily administrative operations of the Career Center. Deliver presentations on a wide variety of career development topics and themes. Assist students with navigating Career Center technology - including but not limited to Handshake, FOCUS, and business card software. Develop programming and events geared to promoting the Career Center’s services and visibility to students and subsequently market, advertise, promote, and staff/lead the respective events and programs. Uphold and maintain confidentiality and integrity of all data and users of the Career Center while demonstrating maturity, confidence, and professionalism.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Represent Career Center at events, classroom presentations, and marketing events
- Maintain the Career Center’s social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook.
- Critique resumes and cover letters during scheduled student appointments
- Provide exemplary customer service when scheduling student appointments and welcoming students and guests into the Career Center
- Introduce students to technology including FOCUS (Career Exploration Computer Program); Handshake, and business card software
- Assist students in using additional Career Center resources
- Advise students on graduate school selection, and application process during scheduled student appointments
- Coordinate and marketing office workshops, programs, and events
- Maintain the Career Center’s social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook
- Outreach to student clubs, organizations, athletics, residence halls, and class officers for collaboration around career-related programming
Secondary Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to:
- Participation in staff meetings and trainings
- Supporting all staff within the suite
- Provide reception and undertake cross training in order to assist with light responsibilities and tasks when needed with separate offices within the shared suite
- Initiate and/or help support special projects and requests
- Participate in trainings, workshops, and events sponsored by the Division of Campus Life and Community Engagement
- Handle other duties assigned by supervisor
Fellowship Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Effective and strong interpersonal, organizational, writing, and computer skills. Ability to work in a busy student centered, team-oriented environment that is committed to providing quality customer service. Must be flexible, skilled in managing multiple tasks, and capable of working with minimal supervision. Experience and interest in working with college age adults preferred. Some occasional night and weekend commitments will be required. Outgoing personality is a must in order to welcome, engage, and work alongside all constituents of the Career Center - plus in venues and events around campus. Position Requirements: Applicant must be a full time graduate student at Springfield College.
