Graduate Associate for Health Promotion

General Responsibilities:

This position will support the activities of the Office of Health Promotion by providing support to health education initiatives, and leading the student peer education group. This position will report to the Director of Health Promotion, which falls under the Division of Student Affairs.

 

Duties to Include:

  1. Peer Education program:
    • Provide leadership to the undergraduate peer health education program (Student Advocates for Wellness). Assist in leading Student Advocates weekly meetings, staff training, program scheduling, and evaluation of programs.
    • Advise in the development of Student Advocates programs.
    • Maintain Student Advocates programming supplies.
    • Assist with personnel management, including the interviewing and employment processes, scheduling, payroll, and evaluation of student staff.
       
  2. Health Education & Health Promotion
    • Coordinate with other campus departments to offer educational seminars, workshops, and events for the campus community, including student organizations, residence halls, and academic classes.
    • Create print materials on a variety of health education topics such as biweekly Stall Talk bathroom newsletters, bulletin boards, and poster campaigns.
    • Assist in the development of social media strategy for the Office of Health Promotion.
       
  3. Alcohol & Other Drug programs
    • Serve as a Brief Alcohol Screening & Intervention for College Students (BASICS) provider.
    • Assist in the development of AOD educational programs, including background research, facilitation, and evaluation.
       
  4. Other
    •  Assist other departments within the Division of Student Affairs (including counseling center, health center, and campus recreation) with special events.
    • Attend routine meetings with the Director of Health Promotion and professional staff meetings.

Fellowship Required Qualifications

Skills Required

  • An interest in health promotion, health education, and prevention work.
  • Preferable experience with peer health education programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with design software (e.g. Canva), social media strategy, and Google/Office programs.
