International Admissions Fellow

Primary Responsibilities:

The International Admissions Graduate Fellowship is a two-year commitment that offers 18 credits of tuition remission and a $7,800 stipend annually. The fellows are responsible for approximately 20 hours of work per week (may include Saturdays and weeknights) from September through May.

Preference is given to a new or current international student or a domestic student with international education experience

Springfield College International Admissions Department Description:

The Springfield College International Admissions Office is responsible for the recruitment and selection of future first-year, transfer and graduate international students. Through strategic travel, creative communication, prospective and admitted student on-campus and virtual event hosting, and consistent relationship building with sending school and agents, Springfield College’s international admissions staff works towards meeting annual enrollment goals.

This is an opportunity for a graduate student with an interest in enhancing the international student experience or strong interest in working with prospective students (both secondary school-aged or post-graduate students) to support the efforts of the international admissions staff to bring international students to Springfield College.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the staff of International Admissions with the day-to-day operations, including high volume of email communications with international applicants, management of admissions materials, conducting outreach and preparing recruitment events
  • Correspond daily with admissions prospects and families and provide a “high touch” experience to counsel prospective students and families: answer questions, communicate value of Springfield College, encourage attendance at events
  • Assist with the strategizing, planning, promotion and execution of recruitment events, including virtual fairs, webinars, and information sessions, as well as on-campus visits for international students.
  • Utilize CRM Slate to check student status and applications
  • Collaborate with other staff of the Admissions team to ensure a seamless and positive experience for international applicants throughout the admission process.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with clerical duties and data management
  • Assist staff in developing content for print publications including fliers, brochures, web content etc..
  • Provide updates to agents and affiliates on news from SC
  • Assist recruiter in preparing for travel, including fliers,  swag for students, gifts, etc 
  • Coordinate with the Undergraduate Admissions and Graduate Admissions teams regarding applicant support
  • Participate in international admissions office staff meetings
  • Be able to work a minimum of two hour shifts at least three times per week
  • May be asked to travel to US high schools or colleges to meet with prospective international students
  • Other duties as assigned

Fellowship Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Willingness to work positively and cooperatively with persons of varying ages, abilities, and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Understanding of the international student experience and application process at Springfield College and understanding of the Springfield College mission 
  • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to international education and intercultural exchange. International experience and intercultural skills to relate well with international students.
  • Excellent communication skills, be able to be creative in outreach to prospective students and plan and run events
  • Strong interpersonal, as well as oral and written communication skills in English, including public speaking
  • Knowledge of and experience with computer systems such as Microsoft Excel, Word, virtual communication platforms and Google Drive
  • High level of attention to detail to type and enter data accurately and take accurate phone messages
  • Ability to be flexible, adapt to changes, manage multiple tasks, work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Some occasional night and weekend commitments will be required

Desirable Qualifications:

  • International/intercultural living experience
  • Experience working in a busy office setting
  • Enthusiasm for engaging prospective students
  • Strong technology and social media design skills
  • Active involvement on campus

 Position Requirements:

  • Applicant needs to be a full time graduate student at Springfield College.
  • Ability to commit to a two year appointment is preferred.
  • Flexible schedule with availability for some evening programs and occasional weekend
