International Support Graduate Associate
The International Support Graduate Associate in the International Center is responsible for assisting the staff of the International Center with supporting incoming and continuing international students and scholars, developing cultural programming, and assisting with day-to-day operations.
Preference given to a current international student or an international student who has previous experience studying in the U.S.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to enquiries from incoming students, update pre-arrival resources, and send out pre-arrival communication.
- Assist with preparations for the arrival and onboarding of new international students as well as the development and delivery of the International Student Welcome Program
- Some airport or bus/train station pickup
- Help students navigate public transportation and common needs such as:
- Social Security Office appointments
- Driver’s license/State ID card appointments
- Banking appointments
- Health care/pharmacy/vaccines
- Support the adjustment and integration process of international students and scholars through advising on campus systems and resources as well as local area resources, planning events and conducting check-ins with new students.
- Prepare publicity, social media posts, and outreach materials and assist with the organization of major international cultural events, including International Education Week in November.
- Serve as a resource for international students and the Global Mentor Program
- Assist with the conversation partners program
- File and data management new and continuing students
- Answer phone and complete other office tasks at the request of department staff
