Psychology Research Methods and Statistics

Primary Responsibilities:

The Graduate Fellow’s primary responsibilities include:

- teaching two undergraduate sections of a Research Methods Lab (1-credit each)

- holding 4 office hours per week where students can seek assistance with statistics, research methods, and APA style.

Fellow responsibilities will consist of preparing lesson plans based on an established syllabus from the department, maintaining the courses’ Brightspace pages, holding weekly class sessions, developing and running both in-class and outside of class review sessions, developing and reviewing exam questions, providing detailed feedback on written assignments, and grading written assignments. The Fellow will also hold regular office/tutoring hours and meet with students regarding teaching strategies, concerns, and questions they may have.

Secondary Responsibilities: 

The graduate fellow will also enter grades and meet with their supervisor on a regular basis.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Teaching and/or tutoring experience preferred
  • Proficient in statistics and research methods
  • Proficient in APA style
  • Proficient in statistical analysis programs (ex., SPSS, R)
  • Knowledge and interest in psychology
  • Knowledge and interest in teaching
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to work effectively with students.

Fellowship Required Qualifications

Position Requirements:

The Fellow must be a full-time graduate student at Springfield College in good standing and in a field of study related to the Fellowship. The Fellow must have a background in psychology from her or his undergraduate education.
