The graduate associate will work directly with the Dean of Students assisting them with the myriad evolving tasks and projects that comprise the work of the office.

Specific duties include:

  • Develop and implement robust programming for commuter students and first-generation college students.
  • Select, train, and oversee student mentors for First Generation Student Mentoring Program; communicate with faculty/staff mentors; encourage and support participation of students in the program
  • Help manage Student Affairs social media accounts.
  • Assist Dean of Students with managing Students of Concern, and Care Team cases.
  • Meet individually with students to provide support and connection to campus resources.
  • Assist with office publications, including Commuter newsletters, First Generation Student newsletters and other communications for the Office of Student Affairs.
  • Serve on Student Affairs committees and attend meetings.
  • Collaborate with professionals and graduate students from various offices and divisions for programming, and to support students.
  • Attend trainings, webinars, and other professional development opportunities throughout the year.
  • Conduct research to support new initiatives.
  • Serve on Student Leadership Recognition Committee.
     

Secondary Responsibilities: 

          Some duties can include:

  • Providing coverage for the office when administrative staff is unavailable.
  • Supporting administrative staff as needed.

         The graduate fellow should have:

  • Effective and strong interpersonal, organizational, writing, computer, and social media skills.
  • Ability to work in a busy student-centered, team-oriented environment that is committed to providing high quality customer service.
  • Commitment to managing sensitive, confidential information in highly professional manner.
  • Must be flexible, skilled in managing multiple tasks, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Experience and interest in working with college age adults preferred.
  • Some occasional night and weekend commitments will be required.
