Friends in Humanics Scholarship
This scholarship was one of several initiatives of Peter Polito, PhD, when he served as the 1998-1999 Distinguished Springfield Professor of Humanics. The scholarship is designed to assist deserving students with financial need who have also demonstrated academic scholarship, leadership on campus, care and concern for community, and who have put Humanics into action through various activities and deeds on and off campus. All of the funds for this scholarship come from personal donations from the faculty and staff of Springfield College, who give through annual events on campus and the College's Giving Day. Annual distributions from the Peter and Claire Polito Friends in Humanics Scholarship Endowment Fund are added to this scholarship.
The scholarship consists of a monetary amount applied to the tuition account of the student recipient at Springfield College, as well as a framed certificate of recognition. A call for nominations is sent in March, and students are recognized and awarded scholarships each spring during the Humanics Lecture.
Over 120 students have been assisted through this special scholarship and it’s only through the generosity of faculty and staff that this is possible.
Together, our efforts can and will make a difference. Please join us in putting our Humanics philosophy into action by helping these scholars realize their dreams—to graduate from Springfield College and carry our Humanics philosophy into the world.
