Chris Gagne joined the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Springfield College in 2019. Active as a composer and trombonist, Gagne maintains a busy performance schedule throughout the Northeast, specializing primarily in jazz and contemporary improvised music. His playing has been recorded on albums featuring artists such as David Liebman, George Benson, Bob Brookmeyer, Sean Jones, and George Garzone. At Springfield College, Chris directs the instrumental ensembles in addition to teaching a range of music history courses. Research interests include exploring the shaping influence of technology within modern music education and the correlative relationships that exist between music and culture.
