In July 2024, Lori Ciccomascolo, EdD, joined Springfield College as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. In her role, Ciccomascolo serves as the chief academic officer and works closely with the president, an extensive and talented group of academic leaders, faculty, and staff, to guide the strategic planning, budgeting, and creation of campus-wide initiatives that build on Springfield College’s reputation for academic excellence. 

Over her 30-year career in higher education, Ciccomascolo has held faculty, academic, and student success administration roles at large public land grant, public regional, and private institutions. She began her career at Southern Connecticut State University in the Communication and Exercise Departments. Ciccomascolo also served as tenured faculty, dean of the multidisciplinary College of Human Science and Services, inaugural dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies, and associate vice president of Student Success at the University of Rhode Island. 

Ciccomascolo is an innovative leader and has extensive experience in strategic planning and assessment, accreditation, and leading faculty and staff through change management processes. As a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, she has led numerous initiatives that focus on fostering open dialogue and respect of diverse thought and has collaborated with faculty on inclusive pedagogy and programs that mitigate unconscious bias and advance authentic and actionable allyship. 

In 2022-23, Ciccomascolo was selected as an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow and currently serves on the ACE Council of Fellows Board. Ciccomascolo is also an alumnus of the HERS Leadership Institute for which she led as a faculty facilitator. She is a Board of Directors member on the LGBTQ Leaders in Higher Education organization that provides leadership, education, and advocacy regarding LGBTQ issues within the academy. Ciccomascolo earned her bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communication, her master’s degree in Exercise Science, both from Southern Connecticut State University, and her doctorate in Curriculum and Teaching (Human Movement) from Boston University.
