Adam Williametz

Thanks to donor support, Student Life continues to be an influential part of the Springfield College experience. This year, Student Life staff faced a new challenge: finding ways to keep students active while staying safe.

While some activities had to be paused due to COVID-19 restrictions, Adam Williametz ‘22 found one of his clubs to be more active than ever. As a member of the SC Outing Club, students like Adam had a busy semester hiking, fishing, and hammocking.

Although they could not all travel together, club members stayed connected by sending in pictures of themselves enjoying the outdoors and earning points that could be traded in for Springfield College-branded merchandise.

For students like Adam, the SC Outing Club was an opportunity to virtually stay connected to classmates and meet new people with similar interests. In addition to the SC Outing Club, he has also made new friends through playing baseball and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.

“In high school, I was not as outgoing. But since I’ve been at Springfield College, I’ve become way more open to meeting new people and conversing with them, regardless if we have anything in common or not."

When he wasn’t enjoying the great outdoors this semester, Adam was appreciative of the extra length his professors went to accommodate students’ needs.

“My college writing professor really understands the student mindset and the stress associated with it. He always tries to find ways to mitigate the stress, whether by being funny or sincere,” Adam said.
