Moriah Billups '15
When you don’t know what you want to do, you try everything. And Moriah Billups ‘15 tried everything.
At Springfield College, she tried four different academic majors, finally graduating with rehabilitation and health studies. She was involved in every student activity; from the pride dance team to class president to student trustee.
She experienced everything there was to experience in higher education, so it makes sense that she now works in higher education, serving as assistant director of annual giving at St. Anselm College.
Billups chose Springfield College because it gave her numerous opportunities to explore her sundry interests. She was also drawn to the mission and the type of character it develops.
“Leadership is something that can be taught but it’s also deeply rooted in your morals; the way you think about things and view the world. And I think Springfield really instills that in their students. No matter what group you’re a part of, every student at every facet of the College can become a leader," she said.
Billups is not only a leader in her profession but in philanthropy as well. She made her first gift during Springfield College’s first-ever Giving Day and has been an annual supporter each year since.
“I wanted to make a difference and I wanted to show Springfield that I appreciate everything they had done for me. I felt like I could do that by giving a gift and every year I give a little bit more."
Gifts from alumni like Moriah ensure today’s students will always have the opportunities they need to succeed.
