The Educational Testing & Assessment Clinic

The Springfield College Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Counseling Psychology program, housed in The Department of Psychology, in partnership with the Academic Success Center (ASC), is excited to announce the launch of the Springfield College’s Educational Testing and Assessment Clinic (ETAC).  The ETAC offers the means for students to learn about their learning strengths and potential challenges that they experience.

The services of the ETAC will be offered for free to Springfield College students.  Springfield College is committed to removing financial barriers to access to high quality diagnostic testing.  Removing this barrier will better meet student need for diagnostic documentation in order to access accommodations and to promote student self-knowledge of their own learning. ETAC evaluations are completed by students in the Psy.D. program who have received training in psychological assessments and are under the direct supervision of program faculty.  These doctoral students will gain critical assessment experience for their own program of study. 

A Triple Win

1. The ETAC removes financial barriers to allow students access to diagnostic testing and thus the ability to request accommodations if a disability is noted.
2. The ETAC offers PsyD doctoral students essential training and experience in the area of diagnostic testing.
3. The ETAC offers the ASC’s case managers in Disability & Accessibility Services high quality documentation to review for appropriate accommodations.

The Evaluation

The evaluation would include three meetings.  First, an interview would be held to review relevant background information related to the referral questions.  Second, one or more testing sessions would be held that would include a measure of the student's cognitive abilities (WAIS-IV), academic achievement (WIAT-III), and emotional functioning (MMPI-3) that could impact your academic performance. Additional measures, such as neuropsychological measures like the DKEFS and WMS-IV, may be utilized depending on the referral question(s).  Third, a feedback session would be conducted about 4 weeks after the testing session to review the results and recommendations of the evaluation with the student. 

Follow Up

1. The student will receive a digital copy of their testing.
2. Students can opt to have a digital copy of their testing sent directly to the Academic Success Center’s Disability & Accessibility Services for review to see if accommodations are appropriate.
