Kathleen M. Neville, EdD, associate professor of education and program director for educational leadership, received the Diamond Honoree Award from the American College Personnel Association College Student Educators International (ACPA). She will be formally recognized at the ACPA conference in March 2022 as an individual who has made outstanding and sustained contributions to ACPA, student affairs and services, and higher education.
Mara Simon, EdD, assistant professor of physical education and health education, received the Young Scholar Award from the International Association for Physical Education in Higher Education in June 2021. The award honors early career scholars who have made an outstanding contribution to the field and who demonstrate scholarly promise.
Russell P. Smith, MEd, adjunct professor of criminal justice and internship supervisor, received the Region I Correctional Education Association (CEA) Director’s Award in September 2021 for more than 25 years of outstanding service in support of correctional educators in New England, the Middle Atlantic states, and Eastern Provinces of Canada. CEA supports educators, including teachers, counselors, principals, school psychologists and vocational instructors who work in schools that are located within correctional facilities. Smith retired in 2013 after 20 years with the State of Connecticut’s Department of Correction School District #1 and continues to serve as CEA Region I’s co-chair of the membership and elections committees.
