Douglas J. Pisano Named Dean of the Springfield College School of Health Sciences
Douglas J. Pisano has been named the next Dean of the School of Health Sciences at Springfield College, effective July 6, 2026.
Dr. Pisano brings more than three decades of experience in higher education leadership as both a faculty member and administrator across a broad range of health professions and academic settings. Most recently, he served as Executive Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and the School of Education and Social Policy at Merrimack College. Prior to that role, he was the Founding Dean of the School of Health Professions at St. Bonaventure University, where he led the development of new undergraduate and graduate programs, advanced strategic growth initiatives, and helped secure significant philanthropic support for the school's expansion.
Throughout the search process, Dr. Pisano demonstrated a deep commitment to student success, faculty engagement and development, mission-driven innovation, and an entrepreneurial vision for the future of health professions education.
"Dr. Pisano's experience launching and growing health sciences programs, leading accreditation and assessment efforts, and aligning academic offerings with workforce needs will serve Springfield College well as we continue to strengthen the School of Health Sciences and advance our Humanics mission," said Springfield College Interim Provost, Mary Ann Coughlin.
Dr. Pisano shared his enthusiasm about joining the Springfield College community.
