Springfield College Center for Service and Leadership Director Recognized at Women of Impact Award Celebration
Springfield College Center for Service and Leadership Director Charlene Elvers was recognized at the 2021 BusinessWest Women of Impact celebration at the Springfield Sheraton on Thursday, Dec. 9. Elvers was part of a cohort being recognized for being leaders in our community who have vision, passion, drive to excel, and a desire to put their considerable talents to work mentoring and helping others.
“It’s great to have one foot solidly on this campus and another foot solidly in the community to bridge those two organizations,” Elvers told BusinessWest. “It is great when college students really see things from a different perspective, when they develop relationships with people who come from a different place than they came from.”
For more than 20 years, Elvers has maintained a desire to build strong relationships between the College and surrounding communities. Since 2016, Elvers has led The Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement, a College resource that helps develop high-impact programs that seek to foster connections between the College and the community, while working collaboratively with partners to identify and serve their needs.
