Springfield College Department of Physical Education and Health Education Well Represented at SHAPE America National Virtual Convention

The Springfield College Department of Physical Education and Health Education (PEHE) was well represented at the 2021 Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) National Virtual Conference from April 13-17.

The Springfield College Department of Physical Education and Health Education (PEHE) was well represented at the 2021 Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) National Virtual Conference from April 13-17. Natasha Jordan '21 was named a SHAPE America Eastern District Outstanding Future Professional. The Outstanding Future Professional Award reflects Eastern District’s commitment to future leaders.

 

The Springfield College Department of Physical Education and Health Education (PEHE) was well represented at the 2021 Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) National Virtual Conference from April 13-17. PEHE faculty, alumni, and current students presented their scholarly work and research to an international audience. In addition, Springfield College alumni and current students earned the following awards:

Jeff Bartlett '08 was named the National SHAPE America Health Teacher of the Year

Bartlett was recognized as the SHAPE America Teacher of the Year, an award that recognizes outstanding teachers in adapted physical education, school health education, dance education and physical education at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

Natasha Jordan '21 was named a SHAPE America Eastern District Outstanding Future Professional

The Outstanding Future Professional Award reflects Eastern District’s commitment to future leaders. Each state, district and territory in the Eastern District is eligible to submit two outstanding future professionals for recognition at the district level. Students are selected by their respective state, district or territory and then their credentials are forwarded along to the Eastern District future professional leadership coordinator to coordinate a rewarding experience for the winners at that SHAPE America National Convention.

Dereck Webb '21 was named Springfield College's SHAPE America Physical Education Major of the Year

Katelee McCormic '22 was named Springfield College's SHAPE America Health Education Major of the Year

Webb and McCormic are the local award winners. Each institution can nominate one student in the physical education and health education majors, and earn the award when meeting the predetermined criteria.
