Sam Headley provided Massachusetts State Senator Jim Welch with healthy habits and tips on how to stay active during COVID-19.

Springfield College Professor of Exercise Science and Director of Clinical Exercise Physiology Sam Headley took part in a virtual chat with Massachusetts State Senator Jim Welch to help the community with healthy habits and tips on how to stay active during COVID-19.

Headley is a clinical exercise physiologist. His research is focused on using lifestyle interventions (diet and exercise) to assist individuals with chronic non-communicable diseases. He also has an interest in nutritional factors that enhance athletic performance.

In 2018, Headley was named the inaugural recipient of the Karpovich Chair for Wellness at Springfield College. The Karpovich Chair role includes a competitive three-year, honorary appointment that promotes interdisciplinary research across health science fields through the testing of ideas and the creation of new initiatives/practices that have the potential to be brought to scale and lead to a sustainable avenue of scholarship that would be competitive for future external funding.
