Springfield College Student-Leaders Recognized at 2025 Hoophall Classic
Springfield College and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame presented the 12th annual Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Scholarship to Springfield College Sport Management student-leaders Olivia Long and Colin Norred. The presentation was made on Monday, January 20, 2025, as part of the 2025 Army National Guard Hoophall Classic presented by Spalding at Blake Arena. Both Long and Norred were key contributors during the 2025 Hoophall Classic, the leading high school basketball tournament in the country showcasing the nation’s top recruits.
As part of their responsibilities, they assisted with more than 75 student event staff workers and more than 30 student liaisons during the event. They were part of training sessions for volunteers of the event; collaborated with the Springfield College Office of Conferences and Special Events and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to coordinate schedules for each day; and were part of all event operations during the five-day tournament.
A native of Wilbraham, Mass., Long currently displays a 3.9 GPA. She recently served as one of the supervisors for the 2025 Hoophall Classic following her success as a Team Supervisor during the 2024 Classic, and a liaison for the 2023 Classic. Since September of 2024, Long has been fulfilling her internship with the International Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, Mass. She has also worked as a student assistant for the Springfield College Women’s Volleyball team.
Norred is a native of Hopkinton, Mass., and currently posts a 3.8 GPA. He served as head supervisor during the 2025 Hoophall Classic, after serving as both a supervisor in 2023, and a volunteer in 2022. As part of his student experience on campus, Norred recently completed an internship with the UMass Department of Athletics. He is also a proud member of the Class of 2025 competing as a student-athlete on the Springfield College Men’s Lacrosse Team.
